Oglesby’s city policy about COVID-19 has stalled. Mayor Dominic Rivara shared a policy he put together with the other commissioners at Monday’s meeting, saying it would give four to five days of paid sick leave to city employees.
But Commissioners Jason Curran and Carrie Lijewski said they were against it. Lijewski says if city employees want paid sick leave, it should be bargained for. She says the city should get something in return.
The city council voted to accept a COVID-19 policy at the last council meeting. But because of a state statute, a two to one vote doesn’t count because three yes votes are needed to pass a resolution.
