Over the weekend in varsity basketball

At the Tri-County Conference tournament.

Dwight defeated Roanoke-Benson 62-50 in the Consolation championship

Putnam County were winners over Marquette 65-49 for 3rd place.

Midland won the Championship over Seneca 49-40.

 

At the 103rd Little Ten Conference Boys Basketball Tournament at Somonauk High School. DePue defeated Hiawatha 49-20, Indian Creek  were winners over LaMoille 57-23 and IMSA outscored Leland  69-48.

Streator lost on the road at Washington 54-41. For the Bulldogs, Christian Benning led the team with 17 points and Jack Haynes finished with nine points and 10 rebounds.

The LP Co-op swim team finished fourth at the Sterling Invitational. Ryan Nelson won the 200-yard freestyle and Joe Ovanic won the 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Nelson, Ovanic, Owen Phillips and Duncan Perry won the 400 freestyle relay. For the Invitational, Joe Ovanic was named Swimmer of the Meet.

 

Junior High Sports

The Shepherd 8th graders defeated Streator Northlawn in the first round of the Basketball regionals 31-23. Leading the way for the Rams were Jaxsen Higgins with 9 points and Lucas Farabaugh finishing with 8 points,The Rams are now 8-11 and will play in the regional semifinal against Manhattan on Tuesday.

 

The Shepherd Volleyball Teams competed against Streator Jr. High.

The 7th grade team won in 2 games.Leading the Lady Rams were Adalynn Russell with 10 points, 8 assists and Piper Lewis with 8 points, 5 kills.

The 8th graders lost in 3 matches. Jordyn Allen finished with 12 points for Shepherd.
