The LaSalle County Health Department wants to purchase a shed to store sharps containers. Health Department Director Julie Kerestes says they’ve received a mass vaccination grant which gives them the money to buy it.
That way, a medical company that comes and picks up the containers has one place to get them. She says they’ve been placing the sharps containers in places where they can find storage.
Maintenance Director Robert Kaminski says there is a ten by eleven foot area where the shed could be placed, which is important because the grant doesn’t cover building a foundation.
Kaminski says his department is looking into it.
Correction: The health department wants to purchase the shed. And they want to store sharps containers, not just the needles. We apologize for the confusion.
