The Peru Planning and Zoning Commission is recommending a special use permit for an adult-use cannabis dispensary to go forward. The dispensary will be located where the former Jimmy Johns sandwich shop was on 38th St.
Members from Kana Grove North Central Illinois LLC answered questions from the members of the planning and zoning commission about topics like who’s allowed in and how secure the dispensary will be. Attorney Bryna Dahlin says the dispensary will be secure. She says the state has to go through the building and check if everything is up to code.
No one showed up to talk in favor for or against the dispensary Wednesday, but Alderman Tom Payton says the council will have some concerns.
Consultant Amanda Ostrowitz says the company did look north of the interstate but thought it would be best to keep the location where foot traffic is.
