1927 – 2022

Josephine Lieske, 94, of Ottawa, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Pleasant View.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at St. Columba Church with Rev. David Kipfer, officiating. Burial will follow at Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home, Ottawa Due to current State of Illinois guidelines, face coverings will be required.

Josephine was born on September 9, 1927 in Streator to Joseph and Maria Abbott. She married Earl V. Lieske on September 11, 1948 at St. Columba Church. Josephine loved cleaning; she had the cleanest house in Ottawa. Mom’s spaghetti sauce will never be duplicated. She also enjoyed slot machines and playing cards. Most of all she loved caring for her husband and children. She devoted her life to caring for her daughter June as well.

She is survived by six children Earl (Mary) Lieske, Jr., June Marie Lieske, Carol (Yocko) Fraine, Joanne Iverson, Diane (Brian) Neilsen, and Peggy (Brian) Allen; 11 grandchildren, Earl, Judy, Michelle, Jenny, Brian (Sara) Allen, Jr., Abby, Gracie, Christian, Gabe, and Brian Neilsen, Jr.; 12 great grandchildren, Isabella, Primo, Giada, Cameron, Kobe, Jace, Jax, Jonah, Nolan, Ella, Crew, and Ford; and a brother Angelo Abbott.

She was preceded in death by his parents; her beloved husband Earl; brothers, Mike, John, Jimmy, and Chee Chee; sisters, Sara, Millie and Rosey; and her son-in-law, Bob Iverson.

Pallbearers will be Christian and Gabe Newbury, Primo and Michelle Pattelli, Brian Neilsen, Jr., and Brian Allen, Sr.
