Illinois Valley Community College reports its student head count was up 4% in the fall semester. The credit hour count was down 2% though. That could be partly because it takes just 60 credit hours instead of 64 to get most degrees now. IVCC President Jerry Corcoran says fewer credit hours taken add up to less revenue, but it’s okay.

Corcoran says other reasons for the credit hour count dropping could include students deciding the job market is good enough now for their college courses to wait.
