Last night at the Tri-County Conference Tournament at Bader Gym in girls basketball,
Marquette defeated Dwight 54 -34. Lilly Craig finished with 17 points for the Lady Crusaders. Marquette will face Seneca in the next round on Wednesday.
Seneca easily defeated Midland 44-18 and Roanoke-Benson outscored Putnam County, 39-38.
Yesterday’s results of the opening round in the Little Ten Conference Girls Basketball Tournament: Hiawatha defeated DePue 20-17, Somonauk outscored Indian Creek, 46-42, and Newark earned a forfeit win over IMSA.

The Chicago Bulls’ season-high losing streak is up to four after a 119-106 loss to the Grizzlies in Memphis. DeMar DeRozan dropped in 24 points to lead the Bulls, which slipped to 27-and-15 on the season. The Bulls are now tied with the Heat for best record in the East and will return home to host Cleveland tomorrow.
The Blackhawks fell short in Seattle, but still earned a point after the 3-2 shootout loss. Dominik Kubalik and Brandon Hagel scored second period goals for the Hawks who will host the Wild on Friday before the teams rematch Saturday in Minnesota.
The Los Angeles Rams crushed the Cardinals 34-11 in the NFC Wild Card Round in Inglewood last night. Matthew Stafford threw two touchdowns to earn his first career playoff victory. The Rams will face the Buccaneers in the NFC Divisional Round on Sunday.
The now 17th-ranked Fighting Illini saw their six-game winning streak end after a heartbreaking home loss to fourth-ranked Purdue. The game went to double-overtime only for Illinois to fall 96-88. The Illini are now 13-and-4 on the season and will travel to face Maryland on Friday.
Notre Dame held off Howard for a 71-68 win. Tonight, Northwestern hosts eighth-ranked Wisconsin and Northern will face Bowling Green in Dekalb.
Olympic athletes are facing new COVID restrictions with less than three weeks until the Winter Games. China is now requiring all travelers to take a specific test within 72 hours of arriving. This comes after the capital city of Beijing reported its first omicron case over the weekend. That forced organizers to also cancel ticket sales for local fans, since international crowds were already banned.
