The city of LaSalle is ready to let the contract with the company that picks up residents’ trash and recycling end next year. Residents have been calling city hall about their trash and recycling not being picked up by the company Republic Services.
Finance Director John Duncan says the city set up a system in March of 2021 with the company to find out where the complaints are coming from, and then Republic corrects the wrongdoing. But Duncan says after it’s gets fixed, the company doesn’t remain consistent.
He says they’ve talked with the company about trying to stay consistent.
He says the city would have to find a breach of the contract and go to court to get out of it. He says it’s not worth it when the contract ends.
For now, Duncan says call city hall if trash hasn’t been picked up.
