Commissioner Tara Bedei has been appointed the next mayor of Streator. The city council voted unanimously for her to fill the vacancy left by former Mayor Jimmy Lansford.
He resigned due to health and family reasons in December. Bedei says that she will have to make some changes in her life. She says that she is on two boards of directors and six volunteer committees. She also has a full time job at Streator Dependable Manufacturing.
Audio PlayerShe says she will hold the position until April 2023. Although she did say that right now, she would want to run for election. She has been on the city council since 2013.
She says one thing she’d like to do as mayor is make the city’s strategic plan more accessible to residents.
