We are finishing up our series of the top stories of 2021 with the Marseilles water and sewer extension to Interstate 80. Mayor Jim Hollenbeck says the project has been in the process since the 1970’s. He’s says many previous city councils did their part to get the project underway.
John Pohar and Sons, who was awarded the project, started in the Walbridge Subdivision and is working its way up to Interstate 80. The project will come down Rutland St. and finish at 11th St. City Engineer Mike Etscheid says there’s still plenty of work to do, but the project should be done by the summer.
With the extension, the city is hoping to bring businesses.
