Up to 43 wind turbines could be built in the LaSalle County panhandle. The company planning to do it is asking the county for permits. It’ll have a hearing with the Zoning Board of Appeals on Wednesday, January 19th at 5pm at the Etna Rd. courthouse in Ottawa.

Heartland Wind is part of Avangrid Renewables, which is part of the Iberdrola company. It already owns wind turbines between Streator and Ransom. The panhandle project is called the Osagrove Flats Wind Farm and is expected to power 24,400 homes.
