Some new chess tables that have been installed at Washington Park in Ottawa. The idea was originated by eighth grader Eleanor Hasty.
Hasty says the money for the chess tables was donated. There was a ribbon cutting ceremony last week at the park.
A lot of the money came through the Starved Rock Country Community Foundation. She says the idea for the chess tables came to her when she was watching TV shows where people played chess in the park. Hasty says chess tournaments will be held next year at Jeremiah Joes and at the park.
