Weekend results in girls basketball
At Bader Gym, Marquette defeated Somonauk 40-22. Lilly Craig scored 17 points with Josie Eager finishing with 13 points for the Lady Crusaders.
Results in round one from the 35th Ottawa Lady Pirates Holiday Tournament
Ottawa finished strong over IVC 38-28. Zoe Harris earned a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds and Grace Carroll posted 10 points, three rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Lady Pirates.
LP fell to Dixon 48-33. Addison Duttlinger led the Lady Cavaliers with 10 points.
Streator lost to Illinois Valley Central 40-30 Marissa Vickers finished with 8 points in the loss.
At the Lady Bruins Christmas Classic, The hosting St Bede team had a rough start in round one by losing to Seneca 60-52. The Irish were led in scoring by Kennedy Hartwig’s 26 points, the Bruins’ top scorer was Lia Bosnich with 12.
Game two was also a loss for the Lady Bruins to Fieldcrest 54-41. Renn Ludford led St Bede with 11 points.
Results in boys basketball
Over the weekend on WCMY Marquette won big over Beardstown 48-33 at the Eureka Shootout. Tom Durdan led the way for the Crusaders with 23 points. Beau Ewers also added nine points in the victory.
Ottawa won a thriller on the road at Princeton 46-44. Top performers for the Pirates were Luke Cushing who had a strong performance with 17 points and Braiden Miller earned a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
The JV squad lost to Princeton 45-40. Huston Hart finished with 10 points for OHS.
Streator lost at Putnam County 60-46. The Bulldogs center Jack Haynes earned a double-double with a game high of 26 points and 14 rebounds in the loss.
The Seneca wrestling team placed 7th at the Tyler Cox Dual Tournament. Winners for the Fighting Irish: Owen Feiner,Asher Hamby, Robby Nelson, Kyler Hahn, Jaden Casey, Nate Othon and Chris Peura.
