The Ottawa YMCA hasn’t decided what to do with its old building after it builds and moves into a new one. Tearing it down is a possibility. To help make it happen, the Ottawa City Council has approved asking the Federal Emergency Management Agency for some money. Mayor Dan Aussem says the grant would work like the home buyouts in the center Ottawa flats before there was Fox River Park. No homes or other buildings that would be expensive to replace can be built there again.

Whatever happens with the old Y building, it won’t until 2023. The new building construction is expected to start in the spring and take more than a year.
