For phase two of the agriculture classroom project, Illinois Valley Community College plans to spend around $4.4 million. It’s hoping for a federal grant to cover 80% of it. The Board of Trustees last week approved committing $885,000 in local money and asking for $3.5 million from the U.S. Department of Economic Development Administration. Phase two will build a new classroom and lab building. Phase one, completed last year, was the storage building for tractors, tillers, planters, and other equipment.
