Monday Local Sports Update

This weekend in High School Basketball

Ottawa outscored Streator 56-41 at Kingman Gym.  The Pirates were led by Luke Cushing with 17 points, seven rebounds and two steals, followed by Anthony Miller scoring 12 points and six assists. For the Bulldogs, Jack Haynes earned a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

The JV squad also defeated Streator 58-20, Ottawa was led by Huston Hart with 14 points, six rebounds, six assists and six steals.

 

Final results at the 47th annual Colmone Classic, Marquette won the 5th place game by defeating Bureau Valley 52-47. Top performers for the Crusaders were Tommy Durdan leading the team with 15 points. Beau Ewers and Griffin Walker each scoring 14 points and Logan Nelson finished with 11 points and 8 rebounds.

Other results at the Colmone:

Princeton won the championship over LP 66-62. In the 3rd place matchup Pontiac defeated Rock Falls 65-60. 7th place game Stillman Valley over Mendota 46-36,  9th place matchup St Bede beat Fieldcrest 61-53 and in the 11th place contest Hall defeated Putnam County 58-29.

 

In girls basketball

Ottawa were winners at home over Plano 31-11 at Kingman Gym. Zoe Harris led the Lady Pirates with 17 points, seven rebounds and three steals.

 

Serena also won at home by beating Putnam County 44-14.  Katie Baker finished with 26 points, three rebounds, eight steals and three assists for the Lady Huskers.

 

Tonight for the girls, Marquette is at Roanoke-Benson,  Streator is home to face Manteno and  Seneca versus Morris

 

The Streator Bowling team placed  5th at the 12 team Cavalier Classic in Peru. Brady Grabowski rolled a series score of 1,334 with a game high of 259 to win the individual title. 

 

The Seneca wrestling team competed At the Riverdale Invitational. Top finishers in their weight class For the Fighting Irish, Asher Hamby finished in 2nd place and Kyler Hahn and Jaden Casey each placed 3rd.

 

In junior high sports

The 8th grade Shepherd team defeated Spring Valley 43-36 in boys basketball. Leading the way for the Rams were Lucas Farabaugh with 18 points and Archer Cechowicz scored 9 points.
