The Conservation Foundation will do prescribed burns and thin the tree canopy in some areas of the Dayton Bluffs Nature Preserve. It will do the same thing at the O’Hara Woods Nature Preserve in Will County. It’s getting a grant for $82,500 from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to do that. The burns and removal of certain trees is meant to help native plants thrive and remove invasive species. At Dayton Bluffs, the foundation owns the land and leases it to the city of Ottawa.
