The village of Dalzell is looking to purchase water from the city of Peru. City Engineer Eric Carls says the village is facing some long term maintenance on their distribution system and water plant.

He also says the village has shallow wells and is having some issues with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. Carls say the two cities have to form an intergovernmental agreement.

He says the framework and how the project would be funded is yet to be determined.

Carls says both cities will come to the table for the next three to six months to discuss how Peru can send water to Dalzell. He says the water agreement is similar to what the Village of Ransom and Streator did a few years ago.
