Ottawa City Hall is asking for about $500,000 more in property tax money next year. The levy the City Council put on file this week is for $7.8 million. The increase is nearly 7%. Treasurer Don Harris says the city has obligations, especially with the state requiring more funding for pension funds.

The “truth in taxation” hearing will be on the evening of Tuesday the 21st during the City Council meeting.
