People at the workshop meeting held by the Ottawa City Council say that Riordan Pool should be fixed and kept open. Homeowner Deb Purcell says that the pool is landmark for the city. She said she was there for when the pool first opened.

But it does come with a price. Commissioner Marla Pearson says it would cost $550,000 for fixing immediate issues that pool has and about $1.75 million to fix other issues over many years.

Mayor Dan Aussem says it would be worth the investment.

Commissioner James Less says he isn’t against having a pool, but it should be done responsibly. He says that the city loses about $100,000 every year when they open the pool.

Other people in Ottawa sent their comments by email. Out of five emails, four agreed that the pool should be invested in. One homeowner said that it should be closed and is wasting tax payer dollars. Those emails were read by City Clerk Shelly Munks:
