Last night’s results in girls basketball
Marquette defeated Midland in a Tri-County matchup 50-29 at Bader Gym. Leading the way for the Lady Crusaders were Josie Eager with 13 points and Lilly Craig with 10 points, 5 blocks and 5 rebounds
The JV team also defeated Midland 40-12. Top performers for the Lady Cru were Makayla Backos with 11 points and Chloe Larson scoring 9 more.
Seneca lost at home to Henry 37-25. Kennedy Hartwig finished with 8 points for the Lady Irish.
St Bede were winners at Mendota 48-22. For the Lady Bruins, Leah Smudzinski led the way with 18 points and Lia Bosnich added 14 more.
Serena won at home over Earlville 28-23. Makayla McNally earned a double double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and finished with 3 steals for the Lady Huskers.

In boys freshman basketball, Ottawa lost to Morris 43-42 in a triple overtime game. Leading scorers were Weston Averkamp and Jackson Mangold with 10 points apiece and Evan Snook Finished with 7 points.
The Ottawa wrestling team lost at Plano. Match winners for the Pirates were Tristan Simmons, Marek Duffy, Charles Medrow and Landon Marx.
The Ottawa bowling team lost to LP. Sean Miller led the Pirates with a 554 series score and a high game of 215
The JV team also lost to the Cavaliers. Dakota Bowers rolled a 458 series score and a high game of 163.
The Streator Bowling team were winners at home over Hall. Brady Grabowski led the Bulldogs with a 574 series score-with a 201 high game.
Elsewhere in sports
The Bulls jumped to an early lead and held on for a 119-115 win over the Knicks in New York. DeMar DeRozan dropped in 34 points, while Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic scored 27 apiece for the Bulls.
The Blackhawks opened up their road trip with a 4-3 shootout win over the Capitals in Washington. The ‘Hawks resume the trek tomorrow in New York against the Rangers.
On Thursday Night Football, the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Saints 27-17 in New Orleans.
