Last night in girls varsity basketball, Ottawa lost a thriller to Dixon in overtime 51-46 at Kingman Gym. For the Lady Pirates, Brooke Waddell scored six 3-pointers for a game-high 18 points and Ella Marvel finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the loss.
The Ottawa JV girls lost to Dixon 38-37 at Kingman Gym. Marley Orlandi scored a game-high 17 points for the Lady Pirates.
Tonight in girls basketball: Marquette will host Midland at Bader Gym, LP is at Central Catholic, Seneca is home to face Henry, Saint Bede is at Mendota, Hall versus Princeton and Streator is home to take on Peotone.
In high school wrestling
The Seneca team competed against Morris and their host Sandwich in a triangular matchup. Winners for the Fighting Irish:

The MLB is in a lockout. The league officially locked out its Players Association early this morning for the first time since 1990 after the two sides couldn’t reach an agreement on a new labor deal. During the lockout, team officials and players will not be allowed to communicate. It’s the ninth work stoppage in total for major league baseball.
Prior to the lockout. Ace pitcher Marcus Stroman has agreed to a three-year contract worth 71 million dollars with the Cubs. The 30-year-old right-hander recorded a 3.02 earned run average and 158 strikeouts in 179 innings last season with the Mets.
The Chicago Bulls are in the Big Apple to clash with the Knicks tonight at Madison Square Garden. The Bulls have won two-of-three to move to 14-and-8 on the season.
The NBA is punishing the Bulls due to premature discussions into the free agency of guard Lonzo Ball. After the league conducted a four-month investigation, The Bulls will lose its next available second round pick.
The Blackhawks open up a three-game road trip tonight in Washington against the Capitals. The Hawks will also visit the Rangers and Islanders in New York during this weekend.
Notre Dame is reportedly expected to announce that defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman will take over the program from Brian Kelly, who left earlier this week for LSU. Notre Dame players and recruits voiced their desires to have the 35-year-old Freeman take over.
Tonight on Thursday Night Football the Cowboys visit the Saints in New Orleans. Dallas will be without head coach Mike McCarthy after he tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week.
Junior High Sports
The 8th grade Lady Rams defeated Minooka 32-23. Mary Stisser led the way with 10 points. Ashlyn Ganiere and Aubrey Sullivan each added 8 points. The Lady Rams will now play Joliet Dirksen in the IESA Regional Championship Game tonight at 5pm at Shepherd Middle school.
The Marquette Academy girls 7th grade team won their sectional championship by beating MVK 39-4. Leading the way for the Lady Knights was Hunter Hopkins with 20 points.
