Daughters of the American Revolution names local Good Citizens

Six area schools nominated some very active students for Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Awards. Ottawa High School’s Adilyn Walker, won the local chapter’s scholarship; she plans to study cellular and molecular biology.

Julie McDonald, who headed the selection committee, says any student from the schools that work with D.A.R. can be nominated.

The nominees don’t have to have D.A.R. connections, nor do they have to be girls. They’re judged on dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. This year’s other Good Citizen winners are Josie Eager of Marquette Academy, Miranda Araujo of Seneca High, Trevor Thanepohn of Serena High, Lydia Schultz from Streator High, and Carsyn Stipp from Woodland.
