Last night in girls basketball

Marquette were winners at Dwight 52-30. For the Lady Crusaders, Lilly Craig led the way 

with 18-points, four-rebounds and five-steals. Also for the Crusaders Avery Durdan added 10 points and five rebounds, Josie Eager eight points, eight assists and five steals, and Izzy Garkey nine points and six steals. 

The JV squad also won over Dwight 40-12. Makayla Backos scored 11 points for Marquette

 

Ottawa won at Serena 50-34. Top performers for the Lady Pirates were Cheyenne Joachim scoring a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds and a game high four steals, both Grace Carroll and Ella Marvel scored nine points.

The JV team also defeated Serena 45-7.  Marlie Orlandi scored 13 points for Ottawa.

 

Seneca won at home over Putnam County 38-16. Kennedy Hartwig and Harleigh Varland each scored seven points for the Lady Irish.

 

Tonight in girls varsity basketball, LP is at PLano,  Seneca is on the road at Reed-Custer and Streator travels to face Henry,

 

The Streator bowling team lost to Mendota. The Bulldogs Brady Grabowski scored a high game of 256.

 

Elsewhere in sports

Big news from college football, The LSU Tigers will make Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly the next head coach in Baton Rouge.  Kelly will depart the Fighting Irish with more wins than any head coach in program history.  

 

Nikola Vucevic scored a season-high 30 points as the Bulls outdueled the Hornets 133-119 at the United Center. DeMar DeRozan added 28 points and Zach LaVine had 25.  The Bulls visit the Knicks on Thursday.

 

On Monday Night Football the Washington Football Team came out on top. By defeating the Seahawks 17-15.  

 

In college basketball action, Illinois knocked off Notre Dame 82-72.  Kofi Cockburn scored 28 points, Alfonso Plummer added 21 for the Illini in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

Junior high basketball

Both Wallace boys teams defeated Milton Pope. The 8th graders won 36-23, Joey Leibhart had 13 points and 9 rebounds and Ethan Poutre finished with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the Warriors.

 

The 7th Grade team won 39-13, Jack Carroll had 18 points and 7 rebounds with Lucas Craig scoring  12 points and 6 rebounds for Wallace.
