Over the weekend at Ottawa High School the Dean Riley Holiday Tournament wrapped up with Marengo taking 7th place by beating IVC . Ottawa placed 5th with a win over Pontiac. Dixon finished 3rd by defeating LP and Oak Forest won their 2nd consecutive Dean Riley championship with a lopsided victory over Streator.

 

The 2021 High school football season has officially ended at NIU Huskie Stadium over the weekend. Teams that won their class State Championship were: Lena- Winslow in 1A. Wilmington for 2A. Byron for 3A,  Joliet Catholic Academy in 4A, Fenwick for 5A, Cary Grove in 6A, Wheaton North for 7A and Lockport for Class 8A.

 

Game Scheduled tonight in girls high school basketball: Ottawa is at Serena, Marquette travels to Dwight,  Morris heads to Newark, Seneca  will host Putnam County, St Bede is home to face Hall and Streator is at Lisle  

  

 

The Blackhawks were shut out for the second time this season, falling 2-0 to the Sharks at the United Center.  The ‘Hawks slipped to 7-12-and-2 on the season.  The Blackhawks are now off until Thursday when they open up a three-game road trip in Washington.

 

The Chicago Bulls are back on the hardwood tonight hosting the Charlotte Hornets.  The Bulls lost three of their last four after Saturday’s three-point setback to Miami.  The Bulls sit at 13-and-8 on the season.

Last night on Sunday Night Football, The Ravens edged the Browns 16-10 in Baltimore.  The Ravens Lamar Jackson threw for 165 yards and four interceptions, but he still contributed with one touchdown pass and 68 yards rushing.

The college football regular-season is in the books.  Illinois wrapped up the season Saturday with a 47-14 rout of Northwestern.  The Illini finish 5-and-7, while the Wildcats finish at  just 3-and-9. 

 

In the latest football Coaches’ Poll.  The Wolverines check in at number-three following their upset of previous number-three Ohio State on Saturday.  Michigan hopes for a similar move when the new CFP Rankings are released on Tuesday.  Georgia and Alabama remain first and second, respectively. Cincinnati is still fourth, while Oklahoma State is up two spots to fifth.  Notre Dame dropped to sixth, while Ohio State, Ole Miss, Baylor, and Oregon round out the top-10.

 

In college basketball action tonight, The Fighting Illini will host Notre Dame at The State Farm Center.
