Charles T. “Chas” Raikes, 58, of Marseilles, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021 at his home.
A celebration of life will be held at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. with Reverend Bill Clark of the Marseilles Church of the Nazarene officiating. Chas was born April 24, 1963, in Ottawa, to Charles L. and Irene “Oma” E. (Rehm) Raikes. In 1992, he married Susan Miller of Ottawa who survives.
He was a member of Laborers Local 393. Chas and his father owned and operated Kickapoo Scarp Yard. He enjoyed horse racing and going to auctions. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a friend to many.
Chas is survived by his wife, Susan; his children, Brandon and Anna Raikes, both of Marseilles; four grandchildren, Beau, Cash, Paisley, and Ellah Raikes; two brothers, David (Janet) Raikes, and Rocky (Tammy) Raikes; and one sister, Irene Ozment. He was preceded in death by his mother, one sister, Susan Nelson; and a nephew, Gator.
