The Peru Elementary School District 124 has named the two children that were killed in the car accident on westbound Interstate 80 Tuesday night. Supt. Jamie Craven says 12-year old Leanna Downey-Molina of Peru was a student at Parkside Middle School.
8-year old Mason Molina was a student at Northview Elementary School.Two adults and three other children were hurt as a result of the accident.
The vehicle the people were traveling in hit an abandoned straight truck on the highway shoulder.
Craven also says that the school has a Crisis Team to help students, parents, and school personnel during this difficult time. The team will be available Friday, November 26th from 10am to Noon in the Parkside Middle School Gym for members in the Peru Elementary School district.
She also says additional counselors will available Monday, November 29th at Northview Elementary and Parkside.
