The Ottawa Pirates lost a tough one to Dixon 42-26 at the Dean Riley Tournament.  The Pirates didn’t score a single point in the 1st half and committed 19 turnovers and trailed 24-0. The Pirates will be back in action at The DeanRiley tournament at 7 p.m. Friday against Oak Forest. Listen to the game on the home for Pirate basketball 93.5 1430 WCMY.

Also from the Dean Riley Tournament, LP won big over Marengo 69-43 and Oak Forest were winners over IVC 62-28.

 

Marquette won big in their home opener over Depue 62-34 at Bader Gym. Leading the way for the Crusaders were Beau Ewers with 14 points and Logan Nelson adding 12 more.

 

The JV also defeated Depue 51-23.  Charlie Mullen scored a  game-high 20 points for the Crusaders.

At the Rt. 17 Thanksgiving Tournament at Woodland High School, Flanagan-Cornell defeated St. Bede 51-37. Paul Hart led the Bruins with 16 points.

Serena lost at home to Morris 57-36.

At the Seneca Thanksgiving Turkey Tournament, Newark defeated Reed-Custer 56-39. 

And Momence beat Earlville 56- 38.

In girls basketball, Marquette won on the road at Mendota 55-11. Lilly Craig finished with 16 points, five assists, five steals and four rebounds to lead the Lady Crusaders to the win.

 

St. Bede defeated Flanagan-Cornell/Woodland 46-27.  Leah Smudzinski scored 17 points  for the Lady Bruins.

 

The Ottawa boys bowling team lost to Sycamore.  Colin Sheridan led the way for the Pirates with a 572 series score and a high game of 221. Nelson Brandt added a 570 series score and a high game of 224.

 

The JV team won . Top performers for Ottawa were Adolfo Bustamante with  a high game of 191 and Evan Spencer shot a a high game of 171

 

In High school wrestling

The Seneca team competed in a triangular matchup at Princeton High School. Winners for the Irish were Robbie Nelson, Nate Othon, Asher Hamby and Chris Peura .

St. Bede defeated Amboy and Mendota in a triangular event. Winners for the Bruins:  Henry Orteza, Gavin Hahn,  Matthew Pozzi, Logan Pineda, Grady Gillan, Ben Koyak and Ryan Migli-orini.
