Illinois Valley Community College trustees are asking for $13.9 million from property tax payers in the district next year. That’s up 11.2% from the $12.5 million levy this year. That’s also more than enough to require a “truth in taxation” hearing. That will be held during the regular board meeting on Thursday, December 9. The board could adopt the levy request at that meeting. The tax levy supports one-third to one-half of the college’s yearly budget.
