The Ottawa Festival of Lights Parade will be different this year, and so will the collection at the Sunrise Rotary toy and book float. Member Eldon Leemhuis will drive the float again. But instead of having people give the toys and books to volunteers who walk alongside it Friday night, he wants people to give them at the southeast corner of the LaSalle County downtown Ottawa courthouse property. The float will be there from about 6pm to 8pm.
Unwrapped toys and books and money can be given. Leemhuis says everything goes to the Ottawa Salvation Army.
The toy and book float will also be at Farm and Fleet from 10am to 2pm Saturday.
