A Chicago man was supposed to be sentenced Thursday afternoon for pointing a gun at someone in traffic in Ottawa last year. But his lawyer didn’t show up, so Reynaldo Diaz, Jr. must now wait to find out his new sentencing date. Judge Cynthia Raccuglia thinks there could have been a miscommunication about the new sentencing date after she changed it last month because of a scheduling conflict.

The 25-year old Diaz pleaded guilty in August this year to aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. He was driving on Veterans Memorial Bridge after the 2020 Independence Day fireworks when he cut off someone in traffic and pointed the gun. Other drivers reported his license plate number to police who stopped Diaz a few blocks away.
