The city of Marseilles now owns a vacant lot that was needed to continue the realignment of Commercial and Broadway Street. It was being held by a Seneca man that originally was going to let the city purchase the lot but then backed out.

The city condemned the property and was going to take the man to court to get it. Mayor Jim Hollenbeck says it did delay some bidding that could have been done in June. But the city was able to do some November bidding.

Hollenbeck says the city bought the whole lot and will sell what they don’t need. He says a vacant building still needs to be knocked down before the realignment can start.
