Girls high school basketball.

At the Keith McIntosh Classic hosted by the Illinois Math and Science Academy. Ottawa defeated Indian Creek 50-19. The Lady Pirates were led by Ella Marvel with 13 points and 9 points from Zoe Harris. The Pirates are in action tonight taking on their host IMSA.

LP defeated Plano 54-30 at the Somonauk Breakout Tournament. For the Cavaliers, Addison Duttlinger scored 12 points, nine steals and five assists. Brooklyn Ficek had 13 points and six steals in the LP victory..

Seneca lost at home to Herscher 43-35 in the Falcon-Irish Thanksgiving Tournament.  Also at the Tournament, Serena won big over Hall 47-22.

At the Somonauk Tim Humes Breakout Tournament, Newark outscored Sandwich 33-32.

 

The Ottawa bowling team traveled to Dekalb to defeat Kanleand. High roller for the Pirates  was Sean Miller with a 537 series score and a high game of 225.

The JV team also won. Evan Spencer led the way for Ottawa  with a 439 series score and a high game of 169.

Also in bowling, LP  lost to Mendota. Peyton Baker led the Cavaliers with a series score of 614.

 

 

The Bulls rolled to a 121-103 win over the Lakers in Los Angeles.  DeMar DeRozan led all scorers with 38 points for Chicago, which improved to 10-and-4 with its second straight win.  Lonzo Ball added 27-points, including seven threes, and Zach LaVine chipped in with 26-points in the victory.  The Bulls visit Portland tomorrow night. 

 

Tenth-ranked Illinois blew a 12-point second-half lead and dropped a 67-66 heartbreaker to Marquette in the final seconds in Milwaukee.  Trent Frazier scored a game-high 23-points for the Illini, who are now 2-and-1.  Illinois has a week off before heading to Kansas City to face Cincinnati next Monday in the Hall of Fame Classic.  

 

College basketball scheduled for tonight, ISU will host Murray State at the Redbird Arena, Northwestern will face New Orleans and Notre Dame takes on High Point.

 

The 49ers dominated The Rams 31-10 in Santa Clara on Monday Night football. 

 

The NHL is postponing the Ottawa Senators next three games amid a coronavirus outbreak. 10 of the Senators players are in COVID-19 protocol, and their team facilities are shut down through at least Saturday.  This marks the first time this fall that one of North America’s main sports leagues has had to postpone games due to COVID-19.

 

 

Junior high sports

The Marquette Academy girls 8th grade basketball team defeated Marseilles 39-11 in round one at the conference tournament at Waltham school.  Anna Hjerpe and Morgan Collins led the way for the Lady Knights with each scoring 11 points.

 

The Wallace boys basketball team competed against LaSalle Lincoln. The 8th Graders lost 49-35. Wyatt Stone led the Warriors with 11 points,

The 7th Grade team won 44-5. Wallace’s top performers were Jack Carroll with 11 points, Billy Besse had 7 points, Easton Debernardi and Bradyn Streicher each finished with 6 points.

 

The 7th grade Warriors also played in the Ladd Veteran’s Day Tournament and placed 3rd by defeating Ladd 35-7. Jack Carroll led Wallace with 10 points.
