Marseilles Police Chief Brian Faber says all officers in the police department are crisis intervention trained. Faber says as police officers they’ve been dealing with more people who have mental health issues. He says this training gives officers what they need.

Faber says it’s a forty hour class that was Monday through Friday. He says officers learned the symptoms of what a mental health crisis looks like and they learned how to work with different age groups from young children to older adults.

He says other departments around the state are also becoming trained in crisis intervention.
