The Bulls open a five-game West Coast trip tonight against the Golden State Warriors.  Chicago improved to 8-and-3 by beating the Mavericks 117-107 on Wednesday.  The Bulls are tied with the Wizards for the best record in the Eastern Conference. 

 

The Bulls will be without Nikola Vucevic who tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday. The organization has reported that the Bulls are fully vaccinated.

The Blackhawks close out a three-game homestand tonight against the Arizona Coyotes. The Hawks have won two straight, including a 3-2 shootout victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday.

Tenth-ranked Illinois hosts Arkansas State tonight in basketball.  The Illini are coming off a 71-47 season opening victory over Jackson State on Tuesday.  Illinois carries a six-game winning streak at The State Farm Center.

 

In college football action this weekend, Notre Dame visits Virginia, Northwestern visits Wisconsin, Illinois State is at North Dakota, and Southern Illinois visits Indiana State.

 

Last night The Dolphins held Lamar Jackson and the Ravens to a quiet night in a 22-10 win in Miami on Thursday Night football.

 

Other NFL news

The Panthers are bringing back Cam Newton. Carolina is desperate at the quarterback position  with starter Sam Darnold out four to six weeks with a shoulder injury.  

 

Free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr is signing with the Los Angeles Rams. 

 

Over in the PGA, The first round of the Houston Open at Memorial Park Golf Course was suspended.  This is the second year in a row that play had to be suspended due to darkness.

 

Local Sports

The Ottawa  bowling team lost to LP.  High roller for the pirates was Colin Sheridan with a 547 series score and a high game of 190. Sean Miller added a high game of 192.

 

The JV squad also lost to LP.   Ottawa’s Robbie Burke led all scores with a 469 series score and a high game of 164. 

 

A couple of high schools in the area are playing postseason football tomorrow. In Class 3A, Princeton travels to Elmhurst to take on IC Catholic. In Class 5A, Sycamore will host St. Patrick.

 

Both Shepherd teams lost to Pontiac in Junior high boys basketball.

The 8th graders lost 22-20. Leading the way for the Rams in the loss was Archer Cechowicz with 5 points and 7 steals. 

 

The 7th grade team lost 30-27. Griffin Dobberstein scored 19 points and George Shumway finished with 6 points for Shepherd.
