American Red Cross Communications Manager Holly Baker says there is a severe blood shortage across the U.S. Baker says this is because of the pandemic but also because this time of year, people get busy because of the holidays.
She says that there are some blood drives through the American Red Cross happening in LaSalle County next week. Baker says the best place to start is Red Cross Blood dot org.
One will be in Peru next Wednesday from noon to 5:30pm at the Illinois Valley Chapter Donation Center. The other will be in Streator from 8:45 to 1pm at the Streator Park Place Conference Center next Thursday.
