The city of Peru is applying for FEMA’s Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities Grant. City Engineer Eric Carls says the money would go toward relocating the electric substation on Water St to Center St.
Carls says right now the substation is located on a flood plain. He says the substation has a temporary flood wall around it to prevent flooding.
Carls says the project is in the preliminary stage. He says the project would also include upgrading the substation. Right now the current estimate is about $9 million.
