A 17-year old female and a 61-year old male were both injured as they tried to stop a car hijacking in Peru Saturday evening at the Clocktower Shell gas station in the 5000 block of Trompeter Rd. Police Chief Robert Pyszka says the 17-year old sustained injuries to her foot and pelvis after she tried to stop the hijacking because was dragged a short distance.
She ended up going to OSF Hospital in Peoria. The 61-year old man was looked at by EMS and didn’t want any further treatment.
Pyszka says the suspect is 30-year old Darion Coleman of Gary, IN. He’s being held in Montgomery County Jail on a different charge.
He’s accused of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a passenger under the age of 16 and also accused of leaving the first car in Ladd and stealing a second one in Litchfield.
The LaSalle County State’s Attorney’s Office has issued a warrant for his arrest.
