 The Marquette Crusaders season came to an end by losing to Fulton 55-14 in round two of the Class 1A football playoffs. 

Also in 1A, St Bede lost at Ridgeview 47-20.  In Class 3A, Princeton won at home over Prairie Central 40-0. 

Morris lost in an upset at home to Morton 28-24 in 5A. Other results in Class 5A: Rochelle lost at St Patrick 21-14 and Sycamore advanced to round 3 after beating Glenbard South 34-0.

 

Other high school sports results

Cross country state finals were held. Ottawa’s Grace Carroll was the Pirates’ first state qualifier in 25 years and finished  146th out of 236 competitors in Class 2A.

Also in Class 2A, Streator’s Kody Danko came in 112th,  LP’s Matt Beard placed 122nd and Ryan Hartman finished 128th in the boys race.

Marquette freshman Maggie Jewett came in 121st in Class 1A . Also for the girls Seneca’s Evelyn O’Connor placed 44th. Also for Seneca Austin Aldridge placed 119th, for the boys in Class 1A.

At the United Township Girls Swimming Sectional held in East Moline, the LP Co-Op team placed 6th out of 13. Peyton Heagy won the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle to advance to this weekend’s IHSA State Meet in Westmont.

 

In Bowling, the Streator boys team finished 4th at the Sycamore Kickoff Classic. Top roller for the Bulldogs was Brady Grabowski. 

 

In junior high sports

Both Shepherd 7th grade boys teams defeated Fieldcrest. The A team won 37-5.Leading the way for the Rams was  Dane Schmitz with 10 points, The B team won 35-1. Kadon Konwinski finished with 10 points for Shepherd.

The Ottawa Dolphins finished in 2nd place at the Pilgrim Plunge Invitational at the Kishwaukee YMCA.  Event winners for the Dolphins: Ethan and Lucas Farabaugh for the boys and Breckyn Jobst and Quinn Wilkinson for the girls.
