Leaf vacuuming is staring in Peru today.
The city says homeowners should rake leaves to the curb but not into the street so they don’t clog storm drains.
The city says only leaves are being collected, so make sure the piles don’t have any rocks, sticks, grass, or clippings because they can damage the machines.
The city also says don’t put leaves in bins or cans and don’t park vehicles in front of the piles so they’re easier to get.
Leaf vacuuming will take the entire week and will start today on 4th St. north from the west side of Calhoun St. to west end of the city limits.
Here’s the schedule for the rest of the week.:
Tuesday: 4th St north from east side to Peoria St to Rt. 251.
Wednesday: East side of Calhoun St to west side of Peoria St.
Thursday: West side of Pulaski St. to Rt. 251 and 4th St. south from the east side of Peoria St. to Rt. 251.
