The project manager at a home being remodeled on Ottawa’s east side thinks something went wrong when a plumber ran a gas pipe to a furnace. The Ottawa Fire Department says the amount of gas in the air inside that home on Congress St. yesterday was high enough to have exploded. Fire fighters got the remodelers out, turned off the gas, and aired out the house in time. The project manager agreed to have a licensed plumber go in and inspect the work. A neighbor had smelled the gas and called the fire department thinking the problem was at his or her own house.
