It’ll cost more than $100 million to run LaSalle County government next year. County Board Finance Committee Chairman Brian Dose says only a third of that will come from the general fund, which covers ongoing day-to-day operations.
Dose is asking department heads to cut 2%. He says the budget placed on file Thursday had a $400,000 shortfall in the general fund for the next fiscal year. It was higher, so he’s optimistic about a balanced budget being approved at the County Board’s next meeting on the 22nd.
The board placed the budget on file Thursday along with a $30 million property tax levy request.
