Peru City Council approved a change in the ordinance for outdoor burnings.
Starting in the spring of 2022 homeowners will not be allowed to burn leaves outdoors.
Mayor Ken Kolowski says this does not include outdoor fire pits.
He says he hopes the change will be good for the health of the community.
He also says the ordinance can be adjusted.
