Babies born at St. Margaret’s Health Spring Valley in the next few months could be among the last born there. SMP Health says it wants to consolidate obstetrics services. The Spring Valley department would close and the services would move to St. Margaret’s Health Peru–the former Illinois Valley Community Hospital location.
SMP Health says it’ll apply this month to the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board to make the change. The board could review it in mid-December. If approved, obstetrics at the Spring Valley location would end by mid-February.
The former IVCH and St. Margaret’s Hospital merged into SMP Health System when 2021 started.
