A congressional candidate who was running to unseat Adam Kinzinger is now changing districts.
Kendall County Republican Party Chairman James Marter says that he will now run in the fourteenth district against Congresswoman Lauren Underwood.
Marter’s campaign says the candidate is anticipating a change because of the upcoming drawing of new congressional maps in the state.
Marter says that Underwood has failed on issues like the border crisis, not denouncing remarks made about Israel, and government spending.
Marter says his record shows that he can make sound decisions and will unite and not divide the country.
Correction: An earlier version of this story mistakenly said Marter is the former Kendall County Republican Party Chairman. He is still the chairman and his term ends in 2022.
