Five Dayton Bluffs Nature Preserve volunteers will put on two performances Sunday called Terror on the Prairie. Volunteer Coordinator Dave Manigold says it’s about the cholera outbreak that killed 17 people in ten days in Rutland Township in 1854. It wiped out nearly all of the Daniels family that lived nearby.

Some of the program is explaining what cholera is, because it’s almost unknown in the U.S. now. The program doesn’t cost anything, but the volunteers would appreciate a donation to the nature preserve’s fund. And reservations must be made, because space at the cemetery next to the nature preserve is tight. Manigold says you can call him at 815-488-1010 to ask about it.
