An Ottawa man thinks traffic rules should be friendlier to motorized bicycles and golf carts. Jeff Ernat thinks more dangerous ways to drive are allowed on major highways.
Ernat says he could hitch a horse to a golf cart to haul it over Veterans Memorial Bridge, but he can’t drive the cart on its own power on the bridge. He asked the Ottawa City Council to change some rules.
Mayor Dan Aussem says the last time the subject came up, the council decided to stick with the Illinois Department of Transportation’s recommendations. But he also asked Ernat to keep talking with the police department and City Hall.
