Jason Drummet’s family has been worried about a worn out water well they couldn’t find anyone to fix and can’t afford to replace. The Hometown H2O program is solving their problem. The partnership between Xylem Inc., former NFL player Chris Long’s Waterboys organization, and the Talking Rain/Sparkling Ice beverage company is drilling a new well in Drummet’s yard near Rutland.

Since the well pump failed last year, Drummet’s husband and children have been using rainwater collected in a cistern. He says that’s a temporary solution. Eventually, the cistern will need repairs. And when there’s not enough rain, the family has to pay a water hauler to fill it.

The house, well, and cistern have been there since 1942 when Drummet’s grandparents began farming there. The family has since sold off the farm, but now Drummet says he has the chance to pass on the house and yard to his own children.

Drummet says more in this interview:

The well drilling operation done by Kickapoo Drilling Co. of Downs, Ill.

The well drilling crew will keep going until the machinery hits water.

Nathan Farm of Talking Rain/Sparkling Ice beverage company gives Jason Drummet a Kroger gift card as part of the project.
