The Ottawa golf team shot a season best scoring a 298 but came in 2nd to Kaneland by one stroke for the Interstate eight Conference Championship at Bliss Creek Golf Course in Sugar Grove. The Pirates Drake Kaufman won the individual title shooting  a 4-under-par score of 66. Also for Ottawa, Drake Stoudt and Jonathan Cooper each shot a 77,  Seth Cooper finished with a 78 and both Alex Billings and Chandler Creedon finished with a score of 80 for the Pirates 2nd place performance.

 

In girls golf, Ottawa defeated Seneca and St Bede at Deer Park Golf Course. The Lady Pirates Hannah Duggan led all golfers with a score of 36. Leading golfer for the Irish was Laura Yegge with a final score of 40.

 

The Marquette Cross Country team competed at the Boiler Invitational at Baker Park Golf Course in Kewanee. Top performer for the Crusaders in the girls race was Maggie Jewett finishing in second place. The boys were led by Jimmy Lawsha, who finished in 23rd place.

 

Marquette defeated Hall in two straight sets in volleyball.  Top performers for the Lady Crusaders were Eva McCallum finished with eight kills and six points, Lindsey Kaufmann had 12 digs and Kaylee Killelea finished with 25 assists.

 

Earlville defeated Midland in volleyball. The Red Raiders Emma Benson had six aces and 15 assists in the victory.

 

Streator defeated Kankakee 3-2 in varsity tennis. For the Lady Bulldogs, Claire Vogel won in singles.  The team of Mina James and Maddie Wahl and partners  Charlee Bourell and Syria Zuniga were winners in doubles.

 

In the opening-round of the Interstate Eight Conference tournament in soccer. Ottawa shut out Morris 6-0 at King Field.  Gio Resendez led the Pirates to victory with 5 goals scored.

 

Serena outscored Earlville  4-2 in soccer. For the Huskers, Cam Figgins scored 3 goals and Tanner Faivre added a goal with 3 assists.

 

In JV football, Marquette lost to Chicago Hope last night 6-0.  Offensively, Payton Gutierrez and Jacob Smith both rushed for 50 yards. On defense Smith and Andrew Hamm each had 8 tackles.
