Cong. Adam Kinzinger is the Illinois News Broadcasters Association’s Illinoisan of the Year. The association’s past presidents considered eight people for the award and chose Kinzinger for standing up for truth when it comes to the January 6th Capitol riot and in favor of health measures to fight COVID-19. INBA past president Molly Hall says Kinzinger put Illinois on the map in a good way at a most divisive time.
Speaking to the association’s members in Rockford Sunday, the Channahon Republican said January 6th wasn’t just a bad day.
Kinzinger also talked about Russian antagonists stirring trouble with articles on all sides of controversial issues and how he worries America is in for a break-up. He said he doesn’t think a civil war is imminent. But he says it’s worrisome when Americans would rather fight each other than the country’s true enemies.
INBA’s past presidents choose the Illinoisan of the Year. Kinzinger was eligible because he’s not currently campaigning for office.
